Fathom This
ICE CUBE GALLERY, Denver, CO, Nov 11 - Dec 3, 2011
“Fathom This” brings together the clay creations of Jean Smith and the assemblage art of Deborah Jang. It expands upon their 2010 collaboration “Confluence,” this year filling Ice Cube Gallery with a multi-dimensional array of sea-themed sculptural and wall relief configurations. Jang typically integrates recycled materials into her work, playing with familiar, everyday objects in surprising and whimsical ways. Smith’s art explores the form and vibrancy of botanical and organic elements, especially those that flourish “beneath the surface.” Together, you might say they are in a league of their own. Come wander the depths of their individual and collective imaginations.
